Quite an improvement from a few weeks ago.
I managed to salvage the interior walls and floors, although I cursed a lot, and was often tempted to throw them out and cut new straight pieces. I keep telling myself to stick to my plan of retaining as much of the original house as possible.
I'm proud of what I managed to do. But does it make my heart sing? Sadly, no. It's square, and boxy, and dark and boring. This house is supposed to grip my imagination, and be a joy to work on. I will be spending many more months on it. I know I wanted to keep it original, but I've outgrown it already.
I want light, I want interesting angles and hidden corners. I want bay windows and useful attic space and wider hallways and I WANT a conservatory!
The dollhouse architect is back at the drawing board. Watch this space.
The house looks much stronger and the perfect blank slate to capture your new ideas! I love the drawer, and making the walls longer to act as the sides of it was a stroke of genius! Can't wait for the next post, and now that I have you in my blog roll, I'll be sure not to miss it! :O)
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Jodi! I love reading your blog. You are so inventive. I'm still gathering courage to tackle some 1/144 scale miniatures. After seeing your revolving dollhouse stand, I need to begin with a dollhouse, of course!
DeleteI agree with Jodi, the house looks much stronger, Megan, but I do understand what you mean. Some bay windows at the sides and lighting can do miracles..?? Anyway, that's the nicest thing of working in miniature: you can create your own dream house.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for new plans on the drawing board! I'm sure you'll find a way out ;)!
Thank you, Ilona! You understand me very well. My next blog post is going to be exactly about that - making a dream house.
DeleteKnowing you it will be amazing.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are planning on making changes and not really surprised about it either! Change and add to it to your heart's content! I will listen for songs floating my direction from the east and enjoy hearing them 😊
