Uh Oh, Blogger is Broken

Since the second week of April, I've had various issues with Blogger. From not being able to log in, to not being able to comment on posts, to images disappearing from posts. My blog statistics have plummeted and I'm feeling exceedingly grumpy.
I'm not the only one; thousands of bloggers are picketing Google and the people at Blogger are dodging us without answering. Here's their latest non-communication:

If you see a minus sign instead of an image, you can read it HERE.
I love Blogger and I feel sentimental about it because it's the first place where I started seriously writing. However, if the problem persists, I'm going to ask you to move over to the Wordpress blog which I set up as a backup a while ago when I heard disturbing rumours about the future of Blogger.
Let's see what happens in the next few days, I really hope that it will blow over.

In the meantime, I hope that you're staying safe during the lockdown and adhering to the rules in your country. Here in South Africa, we're still under total lockdown and haven't left the house in more than a month. I'm happy to report that we're healthy, our state of mind is good, and apart from worry about how our future will be affected, we are well.

I'm maintaining a wholesome routine and working on various projects. All in all, it's a good time for self-care and reflection.

  2. Me too Megan. 🤨😣 So kind of them to suggest we just pop the photos back in. I just had to do that and what a flog it was - deciding which image was there originally and then which file to find it in. I have lost whole blog's worth of photos in an older blog and no, I don't think it is possible to replace all those. I don't know if it is a Blogger fault or not but I am also seeing more spam finding me. I go all the way back to using their Pages (?) from which we were forcebly ejected and moved to Blogger, clearly we are heading in the same direction. I am a tad cross.

  4. I had to do that with a few of my recent posts. Some of the really old posts I have no idea what pictures I'd had there.

  7. Glad to hear that you are well and staying safe, Megan! I also fear losing blogger, as the Wordpress platform isn't quite as community oriented as Blogger. But, we'll get dragged into whatever the future holds no matter what they throw at us!

  8. Among our put together family are Google employees and computer geeks. When I contemplated setting up a blog for our Eugene Miniature Club, I asked their advice. I wanted it to be easy and reliable. They advised Wordpress, and advised against Blogger. After two sessions with my son in-law I had a working website. Then I thought, I’ve got this, and set up my own blog. I highly recommend Wordpress (although I do pay a fee). Nobody has tossed me out of the mini community for not using Blogger 😉.

I too am doing well and keeping my distance. Megan, it is wonderful that you are well and upbeat.

  9. Hi Megan, I had 23 of my photos go missing from my last post and it took me hours to try and replace them as well as to re-write most of the text. Some of the photo I just gave up on because it took too much time AND to reuse Marilyn's phrase, it made me more than "a tad cross"!
They are always messing around with Blogger but I remember the days when it used to work just fine until they began "New and Improving" it.

Me alegra saber que vuestro ánimo está fuerte, hay que aguantar un poco más para después,ir recuperando la normalidad suavemente.Nosotros el sábado ya podremos salir a dar un paseo después de casi dos meses de confinamiento.
    Besos.

  11. I don't want to tempt fate but I haven't had any of mine disappear. I don't know what I would do if Blogger went, I guess I could try Wordpress but the thought of starting something new makes me a tad anxious.

  12. I am beginning to think it's my fault the pictures disappeared. I maybe, have used photos I already deleted and by renewing them kept the same name as before. I am more careful now.
I can understand your father-in-law. The situation is far more painful to people like us. I pray that he has enough to keep him busy and occupied.
    Hugs, Drora

  13. I'm glad to hear you're safe and fine. But I'm sorry about your problems with blogger - which are much more serious than the trouble I had. Luckily it was just the first of my two posts in April affected and I fixed it by adding the photos again. But don't ask how much time this took me... *blarg* Nevertheless - hearing your problems I'm not complaining.

Stay safe, take care of yourself and keep on crafting... or whatever makes you happy!
